Making the decision to start therapy is brave and takes real courage.  I offer a supportive and non-judgemental attention and a safe space to explore and work through difficult emotions.

I am based in Alsager (near to Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stoke on Trent, Crewe, Nantwich, Staffordshire and Cheshire) and run my practice from a purpose-built garden room from my home.  It’s a quiet, peaceful green space, where you can explore your problems in a safe confidential and comfortable environment.   I also offer online counselling via Zoom.

I am an integrative psychotherapist which means that I draw from a variety of theoretical models.  I work from an attachment based frame and incorporate a variety of psychotherapeutic philosophies, including psychodynamics, person centred and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

I have studied a wide range of approaches which has enabled me to  adapt my practice to meet client’s needs.   Above all I believe that the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of the healing process, and I provide a safe non-judgemental supportive space for clients to explore what feels important to them. Therapy can be set at the pace appropriate to the individual and can be long term or short term.

I have experience in a wide range of areas but have a particular interest in:
The effects of childhood trauma in adults

Childhood emotional neglect

Relational and developmental trauma

Anxiety, depression and low self-esteem

Neurodivergence

Magnolia Psychotherapy and Counselling
with Jayne Davis MBACP MSc

Feeling stuck, struggling to cope or feeling lost in your own head?  Life is challenging and it’s not uncommon to experience periods of loss of direction, meaning and purpose.

Perhaps your past experiences are standing in the way of you leading the life you want.  Therapy offers an opportunity for you to explore your problems, gain personal insights, connect some dots, and learn to live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Talking your problems through with a professional can help you to make sense of things, enhance your self-understanding and help you to uncover unconscious beliefs that may have been holding you back. The way we think, relate and function in life is influenced by life experiences.  Habitual learned patterns of being can hold us back, make life hard and can be precursors to anxiety and depression.  Everyone in life has a unique set of experiences and circumstances and I offer a confidential and safe space to explore your way of relating, thinking and feeling.

HOW CAN PSYCHOTHERAPY HELP?

Exploring the reasons for your difficulties, getting insight into yourself and your process and connecting the dots, can be helpful in the path toward a calmer and more balanced life.  Talking to a therapist can help you to work through difficult emotions and I provide a safe containing space for you to explore your problems.

People come to therapy with their own unique set of experiences and I work on this basis of adapting my practice to suit your way of working.
